These locomotives were originally built for the slate mines in North Wales. \u0027Susie M\u0027 was built between 1980 and 1990 to drawings supplied by John Milner of Milner Engineering in Chester. It is based on Rodger Marsh\u0027s very popular Romulus design, however has recently been added with a rear pony in an attempt to reduce the \u0027bouncing\u0027 caused when the loco is working hard.\u0026nbsp;\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u0027River Rythe\u0027 has only recently been returned to traffic, and has a new boiler. This has made a huge improvement to the way the loco performs on our public days, and since returning to traffic has proven to be very popular with the public, and being that familiar shade of blue is very popular with our younger visitors. At the moment she is running with the tender from another Romulus locomotive,\u0026nbsp;\u003c/td\u003e\u003ctd\u003e\u003c/td\u003e\n \u003ctd\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan style=\u0022font-size: 20px;\u0022\u003eEpisode 6 - \u0027Amy\u0027\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u0027Amy\u0027 was completed in late 1996 by one of our members, and was his first locomotive, the second being \u0027James\u0027. Based loosely on the \u0027Romulus\u0027 design, \u0027Amy\u0027 is unique in having Marshall valve gear. The tender, cab and overall layout have been designed totally from scratch by the builder.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u0027Amy\u0027 is currently out of traffic having the tubes in it\u0027s boiler replaced.
